Happy Saturday! I hope your blood sugar has stabilized from Halloween. Today we’re digging into a generational divide, right up there with the great socks vs. no-socks debate. Surely you know by now, but in case you don’t, I’m here to inform you: leggings are no longer cool, and should only be worn for their intended purpose, exercise. And by “exercise,” I mean pilates, not errands. Maybe you sensed this shift, or perhaps you were formally notified by this headline?

This article is mostly about young women actually exercising in baggy pants, which genuinely seems hard.

As a sports mom, it’s a double whammy. My weekend pants must be machine washable because I will sit in gum. As I stare down that pile of spandex, I think it’s time to evolve.

Let us heed those wise words. In the spirit of evolution, here are the leggings-free topics we’re covering today:

  • What to wear for kid’s sports

  • Comfy daytime pant alternatives

  • Cool sneakers

  • Styling proportions 2.0: Relearning balance with leggings out of the picture
