Today I’m answering the #1 most frequently asked question of summer… “What are the most comfortable, reasonably priced sandals for walking?”

Not only am I here with personal advice as a stylist who loves shoes AND walking, but I also turned to the voices of our generation on TikTok to see if my opinions are shared. Good news, we’re all on the same page. Let’s get into it!

The case for Tevas:

If you are doing serious walking in the heat, these are the shoe for you. They are SO COMFORTABLE, require no break in, and have never given me a blister or cut my foot. They’ve received padded upgrades and sneaker-like footbed improvements over the years, and at under $100, they check all our boxes.

I have the basic black, but would absolutely go for a color upgrade via this version or this skinny strap version for the lowest profile.

A Birk for every occasion

While I don’t consider a Birkenstock a proper walking shoe, this newly released pair caught my eye. Sturdy straps, structured sole and an ever so slight heel? This looks like the day>night walking shoe we’re after.

Don’t these look like foot pillows?! I’m excited to try them.

A note on ‘heels’:

A little pitch (heel) on a shoe actually relieves the pressure on your lower back and can make your shoes more comfortable, especially if you’re on your feet all day.

These Dolce Vita sandals have an almost imperceptible ‘heel’ and passed my walking test this summer (shell anklet from WeWoreWhat)

What about the research?

Let us all thank TikToker @joannestrand who aimed to walk 5 miles on a treadmill in Reef sandals, only to stop at mile 3 because her foot was bleeding. Grateful for this kind of consumer testing!

It’s not all blood and blisters over on TikTok though. The girlies agree that Tevas are the way to go, and also gave very high marks to these Ancient Greek Sandals, which I ordered immediately.
