Happy Holiday Week! I’m on a break, and so are my hard pants. Here’s how to style sweats in a way that signals ‘this is an intentional fashion choice’ and not ‘I just want to sit comfortably while I eat’. Let’s get into it!

“1/3 Ugly” explained
This is my favorite math principle of all the “girl math principles”, and it’s the formula that takes your sweats from pajamas to ‘outfit’.
Divide your look into 3 sections - top, bottom, shoe:
One of those elements can be a comfort or “ugly” piece, if the other 2 have more structure and formality. It makes for a cohesive, and often more visually interesting look, and it’s the key to wearing leggings/sweatpants/ugg boots/running shoes… anything ‘comfy’:

More ways to fill the formula:
Top: A crisp button down shirt like this one from Banana Republic ($75), or a blazer like this one from Quince ($79)
Bottom: I love these sweatpants from Old Navy ($23) and I get them in ‘tall’ because they shrink up. For a ‘track pant’ try these from Amazon ($24) or my always beloved Adidas pants ($85)
Shoe: Complete the formula with ballet flats like these or these both from Target (and both SO COMFORTABLE)

Wishing you the warmest, and COZIEST holiday week with your loved ones.
xo,
Abby
