It’s been a chaotic week here in LA, but writing is therapeutic so I’m coming to you on this hazy day, feeling endless gratitude for my safety and home, and absolutely heartbroken by all the loss and devastation. I do plan out my letters in advance, and I was thinking deeply this week about winter trousers before all these other pressing matters came about, so I’m going to continue to share my thoughts on those, and a sprinkle of other good things I’ve come across. First and foremost, I’m putting a link to support the Los Angeles Fire Department here - please consider this the only link of any importance in this letter today! With that - let’s get into it.

The other soft pant:
Historically speaking, trousers have been wool or cashmere, and a total pain in the ass to clean. So I think we don’t often reach for them as an alternative to jeans or sweats because we’ve considered them “precious”. However now, for better or worse, most are made of a synthetic blend - and while microplastics is another conversation, it renders them completely machine washable (cold water, hang dry) and a great pant option - especially in winter.

1/3 Ugly applied:
You knew this was coming - elevated on the bottom and comfy cozy on top:

Pinstripe party:
A timeless staple! Go FIRST to your husband/dad/boyfriend’s closet to see what you can “borrow” from a suit he’s no longer wearing. If the sizing’s not right, have them tailored. Free pants! If he’s not into sharing, I’m obsessed with these and these (a great cropped length) from Me+Em.

Track trousers

Here’s hoping this week brings brighter days - stay safe and take care of one another!
Love,
Abby
OK the jacket that you are teasing us with is a genuine dream. Is this coming to Your Stylist Says?! Please say yes!
