Happy September 1st! If you’re like me and haven’t felt ready for fall, it’s time to take off the blinders (and any lingering shell jewelry) and buckle up. So what does that mean - new season, new wardrobe? Not at all. I said it on Instagram and I’ll say it here too - you really don’t NEED anything new for fall. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m really about a classic style with a few trendy pops thrown in for fun. So I will kick this off by saying your closet doesn’t look outdated, and you already have the makings of a perfect fall wardrobe. This is fall styling inspiration! So consider what you have and how you can make it work for fall, and mix it in with some fun new pieces that make the season feel fresh. Let’s get into it!
Denim
Have you heard rumblings that Skinny jeans are back? They are if you want them to be! But my favorite use of skinny jeans is tucked into a boot, and we’re not there yet (I’ll see you in November). Until then, I’m leaning into these Alex Mill jeans. I recently heard Kate Young on Lauren Sherman’s podcast say that her favorite jeans second to vintage Levis are these from Alex Mill. Excuse me what? Ordered immediately and they are, in fact, GREAT.
Loafers
Lucky for us it’s a no loafers left off the line sheet kind of fall. Loafers are easy to style and timeless, so whether you go for a more whimsical pair (like these leopard ones) or invest in a classic, you’re good to go.
A note on styling: I want to see your ankles, even if you cover them with a sock. The proportions of a loafer just look better when the pant hits your ankle bone or thereabouts. Anything longer can make your feet look disproportionately small.

Light Layers
Here in LA we’re still living in the “between stage”. A lovely time that only requires a light layer in the morning or night.
What’s the thing you’re most looking forward to wearing this fall? Let me know in the comments or reply to this email and I’ll incorporate it into the next letter!
xo til then,
Abby
Can you let us know more about your stylist says jacket? I may have missed my window weather — but what material is it and would you size normally for that perfect oversized fit?
